Founded in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society, ASCM (formally known as APICS) has since expanded its focus to include a full range of programs and materials on individual and organizational education, standards of excellence, and integrated resource management.

ASCM—is a not-for-profit international educational organization respected throughout the world for its education and professional certification programs. The CPIM, CFPIM and CIRM certifications are meeting the business education / training needs for Production and Inventory Control Specialists and Managers as well as the need for a more cross-functional integrated Staff / Workforce.  In addition, basic “Fundamental” classes are offered for the beginning Production and inventory Control practitioners and for those desiring basic manufacturing systems knowledge. With over 60,000 individual and corporate members in 20,000 companies worldwide, ASCM is dedicated to using education to improve the business bottom line.

The local ASCM forum, known as the Falls Cities Chapter covers the Louisville Metro and Southern Indiana areas. The chapter was formed in 1958 and is the third oldest APICS organization in the world today.
